In 1988 was built on this hill, in the parish of S. Martinho de Mouros, a monument dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which since then has taken a religious scope, frequently visited by devoted believers, who go up there to pray, pay promises, place offerings, ask for a miracle, or simply reflect. It is also a tourist site, welcoming visitors seeking a site to marvel at the stunning surrounding landscape over the parish of S. Martinho de Mouros.
From here you can see the Iron Age “castro” (fortified hill), Romanised and reoccupied until the Middle Ages, and also the wonderful Soenga Manor House, the Romanesque Church of S. Martinho de Mouros, and the river Douro.
